About Kenneth W. Lukhard
Kenneth W. Lukhard, a recipient of the American College of Healthcare Executives Regent Award and Career Achievement Award, has 30 years as a hospital and market Chief Executive Officer and the last five years has led healthcare consulting and innovation companies.
During his career, Mr. Lukhard led four different hospitals to achieve top 100 recognition. His last twelve years were spent leading the turnaround at Advocate Christ Medical Center. During his tenure, Christ was named a Top 100 Hospital and a Top 15 Major Teaching Hospital by Truven Health Analytics, a Top 50 Hospital by US News and World Report in four specialties, and a Top 50 Hospital by Healthgrades multiple times. Mr. Lukhard and his talented team created a ten-year vision for the medical center, redesigned the campus, and underwent a one billion dollar expansion. This included adding an ambulatory tower, a new bed tower, 30 additional ORs, added 100 beds to 795, launched quaternary and transplant programs, and coordinated services across the Advocate’s South Market. The operating margin grew from 3% to 10%. Many leaders from the Advocate Christ Team were promoted within Advocate to senior executive positions. Since His retirement at the end of 2017, Mr. Lukhard has co-launched two private companies.
